Mixed media collage painting on 300g paper.
Marcel Speet (Netherlands, 1951) is a versatile contemporary artist active in various media, including paper, painting, assemblages, installations and photography. His creations result from a fusion of visual and material experiences, nature, architecture, fashion and his own history, resulting in a rich and varied artistic language.
Guided by a constant quest for artistic freedom, he studied at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 1969. His artistic quest revolves around the management of confusion through material, texture and color, thus questioning conventional dimensions. He disrupts, plays and disorganizes to discover new creative solutions, thus nourishing his artistic exploration.
His works can be found in private collections around the world, including New York, London, Chicago, Seoul and Rotterdam.
Currently based near Bordeaux, France, he continues to explore the limits of his artistic expression, aiming to provide a lively and dynamic experience, playing with dynamic compositions and vibrant colors to convey a sense of energy and vitality.
Presentation
Marcel Speet (Netherlands, 1951) is a contemporary artist whose diverse practice includes painting, drawing, assemblages, installations, and photography. His work emerges from an encounter between material and vision—informed by nature, architecture, fashion, and his personal history—and deploys a rich and abundant artistic language.
Since attending the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 1969, Speet has been engaged in a relentless search for freedom. He explores complexity through texture, color, and composition, challenging established dimensions and inventing new paths of expression. Through disruption, rearrangement, and play, he opens up unexpected spaces.
His works are featured in private collections in Europe, the United States, and Asia (New York, London, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Rotterdam). Now based near Bordeaux, he continues his work characterized by dynamic compositions and vibrant colors that exude vital energy.
