SOUND AND VISION – Song for Tamlyn is a composition of four works on vinyl by German artist Doris Marten. Each vinyl measures 30 centimetres in diameter.
Doris Marten investigates how colours are perceived and how they affect one another through the straightforward use of lines. Lines highlight each colour individually and vividly depict how one colour influences another. The artist has amassed a profound understanding of colour, which enables her to produce optical illusions, motion-based impressions, and intense variations in light. She sees time as a genuine production material that is essential to the growth of the work throughout the artistic process.
The line continues to be the only compositional motif in this most recent series, Sound and Vision, but it is depicted on a brand-new medium: a vinyl disc.
