Description
This vibrant, evocative painting masterfully captures the simplicity and depth of human connection. Rendered in a candid yet tender scene, the composition features two figures, presumably a parent and child, standing side by side. The adult, dressed in a bright pink top and dark blue pants, holds the child's hand, symbolizing a guiding and protective presence. The child, clad in a turquoise blue top and a light pink skirt, stands close, reflecting a sense of security.
The backdrop of the image showcases robust horizontal bands of color, transitioning from deep reds and pale yellows to cool blues and greens. This abstraction infuses the artwork with a sense of serene movement and emotional resonance. The upper part of the background portrays lush greenery, meticulously detailed yet impressionistic, suggesting an outdoor setting that exudes peace and tranquility.
The artist's distinctive use of bold, solid colors, and simplified, almost flattened forms, steers the focus towards the emotional narrative between the figures. The blending of warm and cool tones adeptly highlights the contrast and harmony within the background, enhancing the emotional weight of the imagery. This work undoubtedly mesmerizes the onlooker, drawing them into a moment of quiet connection and understated beauty, rich with both narrative and visual depth.
Presentation
Luigi Iona was born in 1990 in Aprilia (LT) and from twelve years he lived in Florence.
"I have always drawn since I was a child.
Around the age of eighteen, I began to approach painting (tempera, acrylic, oil).
After middle school I attended the Art Institute of Pomezia for five years, Advertising Graphics section. After finishing high school I decided to enroll at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.
After about a year and a half, however, I decided to stop.
The reason that pushed me was the need to "detach myself" from the environment in which I was born and raised, eager to start again in a place that was unfamiliar to me.
I chose Florence because I have always been fascinated by its entire history of art.
In Florence, I did not continue my studies at the Academy, because I considered my drawing/painting skills well enough to be carried on by myself.
From that moment on I have never stopped making paintings, each time seeking more clarity and stability in the form/sign/color, in search of my poetics.
My style cannot exactly be attributed to an artistic movement, but certainly, my most relevant influences are expressionism, abstract expressionism, and contemporary figurative art.
At the moment I am rather focused on the everyday, trying to pictorially convey what we see and perceive every day in the form of internal poetry.
I try to make visible the intensity and harmony that lies in common everyday things and situations, for each of us.
Many times we take for granted a corner of the house, or a tree in the middle of the street, or a well-defined shadow on a wall that we see every day.
But even the smile of someone in our life can go unnoticed.
Here, my paintings are made to remember the beauty of things/people in everyday life, avoiding archiving what we practically have before our eyes every day.
By avoiding avoiding life."
