Description
In this striking work, a talented artist captures a scene that is both mysterious and evocative. Entitled "Vendée Globe 3", the painting depicts a shadowy female figure standing in front of a huge bay window. The figure is anchored in a contemplative posture, facing outwards where majestic sailing ships can be seen, their imposing sails raised towards the sky. This moment frozen in time seems bathed in the soft light of the moon that illuminates a serene seascape. The use of blue hues and dark shades creates an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The perfection of the lines and the symmetry of the composition denote a measured precision in the execution of the work. The woman's yellow ankle boots, a bold contrast in this setting dominated by blue and black, immediately catch the eye and inject a touch of originality and modernity. This element evokes a clear sense of fashion and personality without distracting from the main contemplative moment. The distant horizon, with its aligned sailboats and the calm water, invites the viewer to imagine adventure and travel. There is a subtle suggestion of mystery, as if the artist were urging us to take part in this scene, to share this moment of tranquility before the unknown of the open sea. In short, this fascinating work highlights the perfect balance between man and nature, dream and reality, while asserting itself through an expressive color palette and a meticulously ordered composition. It is an invitation to meditation, an introspective dive through a most delicate and precise brush.
This painting represents a view of a sailing race inspired by the Vendée Globe, the legendary solo race which starts from Les Sables d'Olonne, the region where the artist is born.
Presentation
“Coming from an art school that forged its loyalty to academic values, Jacques Guillet, with five decades of pictorial experience, draws his inspiration from the varied hues of his palette. The years spent in Provence imbue his works with a captivating light.
Originally from Vendée, passionate about architecture and lover of the sea, he breathes a realistic and authentic presence into these themes in his paintings, while transcending the colorful reality. At times, he frees himself from this temporal rigor, while preserving his favorite subjects. He places them with elegance and simplicity on the canvas, abandoning the faithful representation for a refined interpretation.
Freed from accuracy when it becomes time-consuming, he remains faithful to his favorite themes. His creations not only depict existing landscapes and monuments, but also express a desire to escape, giving birth to Landscapes of Elsewhere, fruits of his imagination, imbued with a revealing minimalism. An unsuspected source of pleasure for the artist. »
Gabrielle GERMAIN
"I trace my path in continuity. Over the years, even decades, I discover and re-define my artistic path. Evolving is not denying the past, it is moving forward with confidence, improving, and daring to simplify because mastery of complexity is acquired."
Jacques Guillet
