Silent Moonlight: Expressive Nocturnal Seascape on Canvas

Discover a serene escape with this piece, designed to bring a profound sense of stillness to your living space. "Silent Moonlight" (40x40 cm / 15.7x15.7 in) is an original oil on canvas that celebrates the quiet beauty of a coastal night. The artist uses expressive, textured brushwork and palette knife techniques to depict silver moonlight drifting over a deep blue sea. Presentation

Ludmila Gorbunova (b. 1971) is a contemporary artist. She is a member of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia and a prize-winner of multiple Russian and international competitions, including First Place in Abstract Impressionism at St. Petersburg Art Week (2021) and Fourth Place in the ALL Water/Seascape Art Competition organized by Contemporary Art Gallery Online (2021).

Gorbunova works in oil and mixed media, developing a distinctive visual language that synthesizes abstraction with metaphorical realism. At the core of her practice are the symbols of water and light—water as a space of transformation and memory, and light as an expression of inner strength and hope. Through layered surfaces, subtle color transitions, and atmospheric depth, she creates pictorial spaces that invite quiet introspection and emotional dialogue.

Her paintings do not offer fixed meanings. Instead, they open a contemplative field where viewers encounter their own associations, memories, and inner states. Gorbunova's work explores vulnerability, resilience, and the search for harmony, transforming personal experience into universal visual metaphors.

She has presented a solo exhibition Metamorphoses (Nevskaya Palitra Art Space, 2023) and participated in international projects across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, including exhibitions in Moscow, Kaliningrad, Ankara, Shimla, and Dubai. She is currently preparing new works for an upcoming exhibition at Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art.

Her works are held in private collections in Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Turkey.

Through emotionally charged abstraction and symbolic realism, Ludmila Gorbunova creates contemporary works that transform light and water into carriers of meaning—offering viewers a space for reflection, inner balance, and quiet discovery.
