Description
The ocean captures the gaze. A deep blue dominates the scene. The sky and water merge in a blurred horizon. A few sailboats emerge, suggested by white and vertical strokes. The gesture is rapid. The material thickens to give relief to the boats.
The artist uses the knife to create sharp impasto. This contrast brings a contemporary dynamism to the composition. In the foreground, touches of primary colors punctuate the liquid surface. Splashes of orange, yellow, and red animate the bottom of the painting.
This oil painting prioritizes atmosphere over precision. It invites travel and escape. The light seems to filter through a marine mist. The semi-abstract rendering leaves room for imagination. Each brushstroke captures the serenity of a harbor at rest. The whole rests on a balance between softness and vigor. The canvas, made in 2022, ends with a discreet signature in the lower right corner.
Presentation
The artist has always lived at the edge of the water, on the Atlantic coast, as close as possible to these seascapes that he loves passionately and of which he strives, canvas after canvas, as a sensitive and privileged witness, to restore light, poetry and serenity.
Colorist, he works his semi-abstract seascapes with oil, brush and knife, playing on the contrast between the motif worked in full paste and the soft background, thus offering each of his works a very dynamic contemporary.
Favoring the impression, the atmosphere and the atmosphere, it gives free rein to the imagination of those who contemplate them.
His paintings are an ode to travel, dreams and escape.
