Description
Bret Reilly's “Crumpled" series seamlessly intertwines the ethereal essence of Impressionism with the dreamlike distortion of surrealism, blurring the line between canvas and sculpture. These works evoke a sense of fluidity and depth, as he masterfully captures ephemeral moments, while infusing them with a palpable, three-dimensional presence. The crumpled surfaces seem to echo the fragility and flawed human experience of each subject, while hanging as mirrors to the viewer to reflect on their own inner and outer imperfect beauty.
Presentation
Bret Reilly is a multidisciplinary artist who works across painting, sculpture, and design. But most of all, he is famous for creating whimsical sculptures as well as creating crumpled portraits, which seamlessly intertwines the ethereal essence of Impressionism with the dreamlike distortion of surrealism, blurring the line between canvas and sculpture. His works evoke a sense of fluidity and depth, as he masterfully captures ephemeral moments, while infusing them with a palpable, three-dimensional presence.
