Description

This artwork, an abstract composition, fascinates with its masterful use of color gradients and its linear structure. The canvas is divided into horizontal bands, each line presenting a subtle variation of hues that go from bright yellow at the top to soft blue at the bottom. This chromatic transition evokes a sunrise melting into a clear sky, establishing an atmosphere that is both peaceful and contemplative. The bands appear textured, adding a tactile dimension to the work that captures the eye and invites a more attentive exploration. The artist has managed to balance geometric rigor and visual softness, creating an engaging visual harmony. Through their methodical arrangement, the lines convey a quiet and regular rhythm, reminiscent of the movement of waves or dunes delicately drawn by the wind. What distinguishes this work is the progressive transformation of colors and textures that operates a fluid transition between warm and cold, between light and shadow. This is a true exploration of light and depth, offering each observer a unique experience based on their own perception. It is a work that questions and soothes at the same time, a true painting of contemporary serenity.

Presentation

Painting as a fullness of color

Painting until then in a semi-figurative style, it was in 2012 following his move to Burgundy that a real renaissance took place in Laurent Prudot's work.

The form then completely disappears from his concerns, and it is at the end of this year 2012 that his interest in the abstract becomes the center of his research.

In total contradiction with his previous works, Laurent Prudot now sees life as an explosion of light and colors.

A “geometric" abstraction

It was at this time that the use of his "Monotamprientes", a mixture of monotype, imprint, and stamp, which he made himself, resurfaced.

This abstraction that he describes as “geometric" takes the form of regular squares and other vertical line-signs, with an idea of repetition and assumed rehashing very present in all of his work.

He explores the different possible variations and plays between the intensity of the colors and the white of the support, which gives his approach all its singularity.

From the semi-figurative style of his beginnings, the artist has evolved towards a clearer, more architectural, more constructed art.

An emotional experience

We could easily attribute Paul Valéry's words to Laurent Prudot: "Nothing is more dangerous than making painting speak. Painting is something to look at."

Thus, thanks to the importance of rhythm between forms and space, his work expresses itself and succeeds in engaging his audience in a true poetic experience.
