Description

This artwork is distinguished by its textural composition, evoking a contemporary mosaic of carefully juxtaposed rectangular shapes. The main visual effect is based on a vibrant and translucent color palette, including hues of lemon yellow, pastel green, soft blue and bright pink. These colors seem to overlap and blend into each other, creating a delicate gradient that runs across the entire surface. The geometric pattern is reminiscent of a meticulously structured grid, adding a dimension of regularity and discipline to the work. The technique employed suggests a fusion between print and painting, where each rectangle is meticulously blurred, creating an interplay between light and transparency. This treatment allows the colors to appear both vibrant and ethereal, as if illuminated from within. The depth of this piece lies in its visual ambiguity: both static in its geometric form and dynamic in the fluidity of colors. It evokes a duality between structure and spontaneity, between confinement and freedom. This tension captured by the artist gives the work a meditative quality, inviting the viewer to get lost in its details and reflect on the impact of color and structure in our perception. It is an exceptional work that succeeds in capturing a textural and chromatic harmony, while remaining open to multiple interpretations, reflecting the complexity and beauty of the contemporary visual world.

Presentation

Painting as a fullness of color

Painting until then in a semi-figurative style, it was in 2012 following his move to Burgundy that a real renaissance took place in Laurent Prudot's work.

The form then completely disappears from his concerns, and it is at the end of this year 2012 that his interest in the abstract becomes the center of his research.

In total contradiction with his previous works, Laurent Prudot now sees life as an explosion of light and colors.

A “geometric" abstraction

It was at this time that the use of his "Monotamprientes", a mixture of monotype, imprint, and stamp, which he made himself, resurfaced.

This abstraction that he describes as “geometric" takes the form of regular squares and other vertical line-signs, with an idea of repetition and assumed rehashing very present in all of his work.

He explores the different possible variations and plays between the intensity of the colors and the white of the support, which gives his approach all its singularity.

From the semi-figurative style of his beginnings, the artist has evolved towards a clearer, more architectural, more constructed art.

An emotional experience

We could easily attribute Paul Valéry's words to Laurent Prudot: "Nothing is more dangerous than making painting speak. Painting is something to look at."

Thus, thanks to the importance of rhythm between forms and space, his work expresses itself and succeeds in engaging his audience in a true poetic experience.
