Description
SERB1038 The oil painting titled "March" is a vivid depiction of an early spring landscape, capturing the transitional beauty of nature as it awakens from winter. The scene is set in a rural area, where the snow has begun to melt, revealing patches of vibrant green grass. The central focus is a cluster of trees with slender trunks, their branches a tangle of purples and browns that suggest the remnants of winter's barrenness against the promise of spring. Amidst the trees, the bright yellow and gold of the melting snow patches glow, reflecting the warmth of the sunlight that filters through the branches. This interplay of colors beautifully conveys the thawing process of early spring, where warmth starts to permeate the cold and life begins to stir again. In the background, traditional houses with sloped roofs are partially obscured by the trees, giving the sense of a lived-in countryside that is waiting for the full bloom of spring to come alive. The houses add a human element to the natural landscape, providing contrast and context to the wild beauty of the scene. The sky is a dynamic element of the composition, with soft blues and gentle whites capturing the variability of early spring weather. The clouds are painted with a lightness that suggests they are breaking, making way for clearer skies and longer days. The artist has employed a bold, impressionistic style, with thick impasto strokes that add texture and a sense of movement to the painting. This technique creates a tactile quality, making the melting snow and emerging grass feel almost tangible. The title "March" fits the painting perfectly, as it not only denotes the month typically associated with the onset of spring but also conveys a sense of progress or movement, as if nature itself is marching towards the reawakening of life. The artist's signature is placed with a confident stroke, much like the rest of the painting, asserting their role in capturing this moment of seasonal change.

Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
