Description
Eric Raban explores contemporary ills to paint a "divination" portrait of a multiple and complex humanity, one that has gone through the trials of time to emerge transformed, transcended by chaos. Through his works, Raban offers us a profound vision of the human condition, where each canvas becomes a mirror of inner struggles and possible rebirths.
His paintings immerse the viewer in a universe populated by human figures and objects from a distant past, like relics from another time, loaded with symbols. The characters, whether in struggle or resignation, seem inhabited by a tension between determination and abandonment. Their postures express a resistance to fate as much as a form of acceptance, thus offering a powerful visual dialogue between movement and stasis, strength and fragility.
One of the distinctive qualities of his work lies in the atmosphere of reflective silence that emanates from each painting. This silence, almost spiritual, invites the viewer to a meditative contemplation, far from the noise of the world.
Presentation
Eric Raban is a self-taught artist. Born in 1970 in the Paris region. He drew very early, and decided to move towards graphic design and joined the École supérieure d'Estienne in Paris. After leaving school, he took a side road and went on a trip to Africa. He worked with wood, created musical instruments, and ceramics. After this long stay, he decided to devote himself entirely to his art, painting. The artist wants to create a world that can express feelings, emotions through territories, objects, costumes or reality and the past mix. He does not want to impose on his audience a perception of the allegory that is too exact. He wants to share it. He is looking for human understanding.
