Description
Éric Raban draws on the various evils of his time to present a "divinatory" portrait of this multiple humanity, guarantor of past lives, which will have been able to overcome chaos and remain part of time. His paintings reveal a world populated by figures and objects, survivors of another place and another time where the characters display both the determinism of the fighter and his resignation. The strength of his work comes from this surprising sensation of wise silence which invites reflection which emerges from each canvas. The artist plays with postures and weightlessness, revisits costumes and traditions and soaks up the colors and atmospheres of his different journeys to offer a rich and singular universe conducive to the mysteries of space-time. Free to the one who contemplates to situate himself or to approach the desired secret explanation.
Presentation
Eric Raban is a self-taught artist. Born in 1970 in the Paris region. He drew very early, and decided to move towards graphic design and joined the École supérieure d'Estienne in Paris. After leaving school, he took a side road and went on a trip to Africa. He worked with wood, created musical instruments, and ceramics. After this long stay, he decided to devote himself entirely to his art, painting. The artist wants to create a world that can express feelings, emotions through territories, objects, costumes or reality and the past mix. He does not want to impose on his audience a perception of the allegory that is too exact. He wants to share it. He is looking for human understanding.
