Description
The man on my painting is enjoying a painting by Wayne Thiebaud. The cakes and pies, the best known of Thiebaud's work, are painted from his imagination and from long-ago memories of bakeries and diners. In creamy textures and pastel paints, he depicts the deliciousness of these pies. Despite its seemingly simple subject matter, 'Sweet Treats' carries deeper layers of meaning, offering a playful commentary on consumer culture and the allure of indulgence. It invites viewers to consider the ways in which we are drawn to the pleasures of the senses. Sweet Treats is an original, 100% handmade painting and comes with a hand signed Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is signed on the back. Shipping takes about two weeks no matter where you live in the world. You'll receive your painting safely packaged and ready to install immediately. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions. I would be happy to answer all of your inquiries personally.
Presentation
Artist Statement from Gerard Boersma: I create colorful and highly detailed works of art to express my love for the modern human as well as my concerns about contemporary city life. My hyperreal paintings are based on photographs I took during long walks through my hometown and major cities. They show people on the streets, in stores, public transport and museums or zoom in on popular products. To me these glimpses of everyday live are important as they say a whole lot about todays society. They show the way people see themselves, interact or are influenced by modern developments in various ways. I observe it, enlarge it and paint it. That way I freeze time and our fast and busy lives are forever captured in a moment. Finally ready to be observed quietly.
Biography I'm a professional and international recognized artist for over 20 years well known for my own style of realist painting. My art is in museums, galleries and private collections worldwide (North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa). Paintings were shown alongside the biggest names in art history at leading art fairs in Europe and United States. I've studied painting and fine art at the School of Arts Minerva in the Netherlands, specializing in meticulous form of realistic painting. I currently live and work in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.
