Description
SERB1117
The painting titled "The Beginning of Spring" beautifully captures the transition between winter and spring, a time when nature awakens from its slumber. The scene depicts a peaceful forest with slender birch trees standing tall and proud. Their white trunks with black markings are striking against the vibrant colors of the surrounding landscape. The trees, painted with expressive, textured brushstrokes, create a sense of depth and movement, as if they are gently swaying in the breeze. In the foreground, patches of melting snow linger on the ground, blending with the earthy tones of brown, purple, and orange. These colors symbolize the fading grip of winter, giving way to the warmer, more colorful season ahead. The snow is uneven and broken, suggesting the natural thawing process as the sun begins to warm the earth. The purple and pink hues on the forest floor add a playful, almost magical quality to the scene, indicating the renewal of life and the promise of growth. In the background, lush green foliage hints at the full bloom of spring, while a faint mist adds an element of mystery and tranquility. The contrast between the cool tones of the snow and the warm, earthy colors of the trees and ground emphasizes the seasonal change. The play of light and shadow throughout the painting creates a dynamic and lively atmosphere, suggesting that the forest is slowly coming back to life.Through "The Beginning of Spring," the artist conveys a message of renewal, hope, and transformation. The painting symbolizes the inevitable cycle of life and nature, where each season gives way to the next. The birch trees stand as silent witnesses to this change, their strong and resilient trunks representing endurance and continuity. The artist's use of bold, textured strokes and vibrant colors evokes a sense of energy and optimism. The painting invites the viewer to reflect on the beauty of change and the importance of embracing new beginnings. It reminds us that even after the harshest winters, spring always comes, bringing with it the promise of growth, renewal, and endless possibilities.Ultimately, "The Beginning of Spring" is a celebration of nature's resilience and the constant cycle of life. It encourages viewers to find joy in the small changes around them and to appreciate the beauty of new starts and fresh opportunities.
Presentation
Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
