Description
This work combines drawing and text, superimposing a delicate sketch of a reclining woman on an old newspaper page, titled "Journal des Beaux-Arts et de la Littérature". The contrast between the fluid lines of the female figure and the formal typography of the text creates a dynamic visual tension. The Indian ink strokes provide expressive texture and add depth, highlighting the vulnerability and contemplation of the pose. The choice of printed medium evokes a silent narrative, uniting visual and literary art in a timeless dialogue. This juxtaposition invites reflection on how art and words interact, enriching the viewer's aesthetic experience. An innovative work, it resonates with its simplicity and refinement, while questioning the traditional boundaries of art.
Presentation
Born in 1976 in Lille, where she studied at the ESAAT art school in Roubaix. She resumed her work as a painter in 2020 and returned to the Beaux Arts de Lyon.
In her work, everything begins with a quest: that of forgotten books, yellowed pages, fragments of stories. Marie Renaud carefully hunts for them, trawling through markets, dusty bookstores, and attics. These literary relics, often destined for oblivion or recycling, find new life in my hands. These pages are not chosen at random. The texts are not mere supports; they inspire, guide, and nourish her creative process.
It is a dialogue between past and present, between the immutable and the ephemeral.
The live model, always female and nude, is often at the heart of his work. Nudity is not only aesthetic; it is a celebration of vulnerability, power, and the raw beauty of the body.
Each painting tells a story: that of the woman depicted, but also that of the book, its stories and the hands that held it before the artist.
Marie Renaud's works do not seek to freeze time but to superimpose it, to intertwine lives, eras, and emotions. They blend with her own artistic language.
