Description
"Cosmogony Of Self" is an intimate exploration of identity and spirituality, a deeply personal reflection on the search for divinity within. Rooted in early Cubist influences, the composition fractures and reassembles the self, creating a multidimensional portrayal of inner transformation. The stark black background serves as an abyss—both a void and a canvas for revelation—heightening the interplay of contrast and depth.
Gold and metallic finishes shimmer against the darkness, evoking celestial energy, while the dynamic tension between ultra-matte and high-gloss textures adds a tactile richness, mirroring the duality of the material and the ethereal. Bright pinks pulse with raw emotion, igniting the canvas with intensity, while earthy ochres ground the piece, tying it to history and the organic essence of being.
Through this interplay of color, texture, and form, becomes a visual manifestation of inner divinity—a cosmic self-portrait that transcends the physical, inviting contemplation on the nature of existence and the luminous fragments of the soul.
Presentation
Ortiz holds an MFA in Visual Art from the Faculty of Arts and Design at The National Autonomous University of Mexico. Ortiz's youth was marked by profound self-criticism and perfectionist tendencies; being an introvert granted him a drive to profoundly explore the technical aspect of his medium, which led to a unique appreciation for contemporary aesthetic renderings.
