Description
This captivating artwork features a vibrantly colored octopus, observed by a man through a porthole. The image is rich in minute detail, with dynamic tentacles in blue-purple hues, adorned with circular patterns. The contrast between the octopus and the green ocean background, with its subtle nuances, accentuates the visual intensity. The man, dressed in a white outfit, appears fascinated by this marine spectacle. Two small goldfish add a touch of liveliness to the scene. An open book at the bottom of the image suggests scholarly exploration or a quest for knowledge. The stylized gold and red frames around the porthole reinforce the dreamlike character of this work. The artist successfully merges marine elements and surrealism, inviting the viewer into a deep and imaginative contemplation of the underwater world.
Presentation
Artist from Montpellier, Philippe Loubat is a resolutely optimistic painter and this is reflected in his paintings!
His universe is colorful, poetic and romantic and the themes covered are love, human relations, mythology, dreams, circus, music, art history.
Strongly inspired by literature and cinema, Philippe Loubat slips into his works winks at Lewis Carroll, Haruki Murakami, Terry Gilliam, Tim Burton or Federico Fellini.
If his paintings often seem autobiographical, it is because he stores everything he sees, everything he experiences, without putting any label on it and without trying to analyze it. He gently lets his subconscious guide him onto the canvas, painting almost without thinking about it.
One has the feeling, seeing his paintings, that he poetizes reality, that he softens it to make it more beautiful.
And if his characters often seem to float, it's because he paints their soul more than their bodily envelope.
