Description
Presentation
Born in 1985 in Aix-en-Provence, Matthieu de Malte lives and works in Lyon.
Holding a doctorate in the study of consumer behavior, he turned to visual art as an autodidact through the practice of collage. His artistic approach developed rapidly, integrating large drawings on flipchart paper made with ballpoint pen and pencils, colorful paintings, and more recently installations.
Drawing on imaginations from the commercial world, art history and childhood, his work explores the complex relationships between culture, society and consumption.
In 2021, her drawings were recognized by the Pierre David-Weill drawing prize of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, which selected them for the final phase of the competition. That same year, her works were exhibited in group exhibitions in Paris (Caring Galerie, Yellow Cube Galerie) and Nantes (Atelier Alain Lebras).
In 2023, he joined the Ateliers du Grand Large in Lyon, a residency designed to promote young artists in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, usually reserved for art school graduates.
In 2024, his work was presented in resonance at the Lyon Biennale. He was also invited to participate at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, where he created two large paintings for his exhibition at MacBar, the restaurant/gallery located in the heart of the museum.
