Rebel Bloom – Words from the Artist
After a long and confusing period in my life, when I could no longer understand what was happening inside my own mind, the diagnosis finally came. “You have ADHD,” they told me. It was a shock, but at the same time, it felt like a door opening to a world I had been trying to navigate blindfolded for years.
An adult with ADHD, raised in a time that toughened you up, that dismissed emotional wounds as meaningless and taught you to ignore the storms inside yourself.
One night, sitting at a table with my lovely brother and his friends, something inside me overflowed. I felt the urge to put on canvas all the words I heard as a child, the thoughts I kept hidden, the fears I didn’t dare to share.
A single figure, surrounded by everything that once weighed on my young mind. I started painting without caring what anyone would think. I needed to look my own mind in the eye — to stop being afraid of the things that lived inside it.
This painting became my uprising.
My soul standing up, finally, shouting a loud “FUCK YOU” to everyone who made me hide, who taught me to be afraid because I felt different.
is the moment I chose myself. The moment something inside me bloomed, fiercely and defiantly — exactly as it was always meant to.
Presentation
Stef Basias is a young 23-year-old painter born in Greece. He grew up in an artistic atmosphere, sur-rounded by a social circle of artists.
With a background in graphic design and 3D design, he incorporates elements from these fields into his painting, crafting compositions that oscillate between the dreamlike allure of pop-romanticism and the unfil expression of the subconscious. Through mixed techniques, bold colors, and symbolism, he explores issues related to psychology, personal identity, and social tensions, creating a visual dialogue that moves between personal and collective experience.
Stef Basias is inspired by influential people in the world of painting, such as Jean Dubuffet, Andy Warhol, Robert Combas, David Hockney, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and many others.
For him, art is a way to decode the subconscious and bring inner worlds to the surface. Each piece is an invitation to explore the tension between structure and spontaneity, between personal introspection and shared human experience.
