Sunrise – Words from the Artist
As I walked to the studio, I was talking on the phone with my best friend. Despite the miles that separate us, she is always by my side. She has the courage to see life with a touch of pessimism, yet she never gives up.
She reminded me of the sun rising in the morning, bringing light and hope. True friends are like the first rays of sunlight — they embrace us, illuminate us, and remind us that, no matter how much darkness surrounds us, their warmth always returns.
Some days I look at people and see all the colors of the morning sky in their eyes. Alive, vibrant, full of life — yet around them, the world they’ve built is gray, dull, and indifferent.
I want this piece to be a companion for anyone who feels alone. To become a symbol that reminds us that the sun rises every day.
Presentation
Stef Basias is a young 23-year-old painter born in Greece. He grew up in an artistic atmosphere, sur-rounded by a social circle of artists.
With a background in graphic design and 3D design, he incorporates elements from these fields into his painting, crafting compositions that oscillate between the dreamlike allure of pop-romanticism and the unfil expression of the subconscious. Through mixed techniques, bold colors, and symbolism, he explores issues related to psychology, personal identity, and social tensions, creating a visual dialogue that moves between personal and collective experience.
Stef Basias is inspired by influential people in the world of painting, such as Jean Dubuffet, Andy Warhol, Robert Combas, David Hockney, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and many others.
For him, art is a way to decode the subconscious and bring inner worlds to the surface. Each piece is an invitation to explore the tension between structure and spontaneity, between personal introspection and shared human experience.
