Description
Late 20th century abstract expressionist mixed media on canvas by French artist Daniel Klein. Signed D. Klein bottom left.
Daniel Klein, a French painter, born in 1946, began his career in advertising, whilst also being a concert pianist and photographer. In 1993, he discovered Chinese calligraphy through the works of Buddhist monks. This discovery marked the beginning of his activity as a painter. Influenced by Chinese calligraphy, Daniel Klein's work stands out due to its abundant strokes, in Indian ink. This gives body to the work, the artist creates scenes by colouring empty spaces. Gradually, the artist's work evolved, the black strokes were more and more present as was then the abundance of colour.
