Description
This captivating work depicts a couple lying on a white towel, evoking a relaxing summer scene. Seen from above, the protagonists wear light-colored hats that partially hide their faces, adding a touch of anonymity and mystery. With a soft color palette and carefully crafted shadows, the artist creates a peaceful and warm atmosphere. The bare feet and shoes placed nearby reinforce the idea of comfort and serenity. The use of realistic proportions and unusual perspectives gives this painting a modern dimension, captivating the viewer and inviting them to appreciate the simplicity of this intimate moment. The work stands out for its ability to communicate the essence of a fleeting moment of complicity under the sun, embodying both escape and tranquility.
Presentation
Born in 1967, Elisabeth de Chérisey graduated in Plastic Arts from the Neufville Conte workshop.
She began by creating unique ceramic pieces before selling models of original designs to the big names in porcelain and earthenware such as Bernardaud, Gien, Villeroy et Boch, Coquet, Raynaud, Philippe Deshoullières.
But it is painting that fascinates her. After a series of still lifes that she brings to life, she immerses herself in the deep study of characters and horses, studying gestures and the moment, like so many pieces of life.
Figuring simple attitudes, such as the improvised "confidences" on the steps, gives a timeless meaning, a pose in time. The sun comes to emphasize a leaning shoulder, the shadow unifies beings and things to the earth.
