Description
SERB 1164
The oil painting on canvas titled "Spring Has Come" radiates the fresh, vibrant essence of a village awakening to the warmth and light of a new season. Rendered with a rich impasto technique, the textured surface brings a tactile quality to the scenery, making every brushstroke feel alive with motion and energy. This work captures that fleeting, magical moment when spring fully arrives — when nature blooms in celebration and even the quietest corners seem to sing with color. At the center of the composition stands a delicate tree adorned with pale pink and lavender blossoms. Its branches, thin and expressive, stretch outward as if greeting the clear sky above. The blossoms are painted with thick, swirling strokes that seem to dance on the canvas, embodying the joy of early spring. Behind the tree, the silhouette of a church rises with soft, rounded forms and gentle verticals. The twin spires, painted in shades of rose and peach, anchor the background and give a sense of quiet dignity and time-honored tradition. Their presence evokes a peaceful coexistence between the divine and the natural world. In the foreground, a row of rustic houses with weathered roofs sits low against the horizon. Their walls are rendered in gentle mauves, violets, and earthy reds, blending seamlessly with the soft pastels of the sky and surrounding trees. The rooftops, layered with palette knife strokes, catch the subtle light of a spring morning, while below them, a string of colorful laundry hangs on a line. These small but vibrant details — flashes of red, blue, yellow, and white — add life and human presence to the scene, suggesting domestic warmth and the daily rhythm of life returning after winter's stillness. The grass in the foreground is a luminous green, rich with texture and dotted with bold touches of bright lime, ochre, and soft pink. These patches of color do not follow precise contours but rather melt into each other in a poetic, impressionistic style. The ground feels alive, animated by the joy of renewal, and the brushstrokes themselves echo this vitality. A young sapling on the right side, painted in crisp greens and light peach, stands as a symbol of growth and hope, adding balance and vertical movement to the composition.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
