Description
SERB 1173
The oil painting on canvas titled "Wildflowers are Growing" captures the gentle harmony of a summer meadow in full bloom, where the natural world unfolds in peaceful abundance. Through thick, textured strokes and a lush palette of earthy greens, soft purples, and creamy whites, the artist constructs a landscape that feels alive with color, scent, and sound. It is a portrait of serenity and natural splendor, evoking a quiet moment in the countryside where time slows and the senses awaken. In the foreground, a vibrant carpet of wildflowers stretches across the field like lace over the land. The flowers are rendered with delicate impasto technique—each bloom standing out in raised dabs of white, blue, and lavender, suggesting motion in the breeze and richness in the variety. These wildflowers seem untouched and unpicked, growing freely along the path and climbing into the grass, symbolizing the spontaneous and untamed beauty of nature. The path curves gently from the left, lined by a rustic fence that leans unevenly into the field. Its dark, weathered planks contrast against the vibrant yellow and green grasses that surround it, offering a touch of human presence within the wilderness. The fence serves as a guide through the composition, leading the viewer's eye deeper into the landscape and suggesting the whisper of a story—a well-trodden route through fields known to locals, maybe a shortcut home or a favored walk at dusk. To the right, a large bushy tree with a golden-green crown dominates the composition, its leaves catching the light and shimmering with touches of lemon yellow and olive. Behind it, the dense forest recedes into a cool blur of blues and purples, creating depth and contrast. The transition from warm, sunlit flora to the cooler, shadowed woods gives the painting a sense of movement and life, a layered structure that invites the viewer to linger and explore. In the distance, tall trees rise into a pale, overcast sky. Their shapes are softly obscured by mist or perhaps morning haze, blending into the soft mauves and lavenders of the background. This atmospheric layering adds a dreamlike quality to the work, hinting at a time of day when the light is gentle—perhaps early morning or just after a light summer rain. The sky above is a delicate mix of muted blues and creamy whites, with cloud forms that seem to drift quietly, enhancing the painting's sense of calm.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
