Description
Litv 1197
In "Time of Vice," Ukrainian artist Daniil Litvinov delivers a haunting allegory of moral decay and the grotesque nature of human corruption. At the center stands a monstrous, semi-nude female figure—part woman, part symbol—crowned with a warped fortress and chained by her own tongue. Her shield bears a distorted timepiece, cracked and bleeding, evoking the erosion of values over time. All around her, chaos reigns: twisted trees bear the burden of hanging bodies; creatures with skeletal faces crawl from the shadows; the natural order is upended. Vice has become the ruling force—decorated, empowered, enthroned—while humanity suffers in bondage and inversion. What the artist wanted to express: Litvinov paints a chilling vision of a world ruled by temptation, greed, and spiritual collapse. The central figure, both seductive and monstrous, represents society enthroning vice while blind to the cost. The broken clock is a symbol of lost time and irreversible consequences. This work is a moral warning—an allegorical mirror held up to the world, urging the viewer to recognize the cost of surrendering to decadence and moral blindness. It's both surreal and brutally direct in its critique of human folly.
