Description
AAA5321
The oil painting on Cardboard titled "Sand underfoot" captures a moment of serene natural beauty, where a winding riverbank stretches through a vibrant landscape under a sky tinged with expressive clouds. The artist uses thick, energetic brushstrokes and a richly saturated palette to convey not just the visual experience of being in this environment, but also the tactile sensation suggested by the title—the warm, yielding texture of sand beneath one's feet. The foreground is dominated by a curving sandy path, painted in soft tones of mauve, rose, and beige. These shades are layered with nuanced strokes of lavender and lilac, indicating the subtle interplay of sunlight and shadow. The texture of the paint here is particularly pronounced, mimicking the grainy, uneven surface of the sand. One can almost feel the softness of each step, the way the earth gives slightly under pressure, grounding the viewer in a sensory experience. This path leads the eye naturally toward the middle of the composition, where a gentle stream or river meanders alongside the sand. The water is depicted with a mix of deep blue, cool violet, and dark green, suggesting depth and movement. The brushstrokes in the water are smoother and more flowing than those on the land, providing a contrast that enhances the impression of liquidity. Reflections of nearby foliage and sky shimmer on the surface, giving the illusion of transparency and light bouncing off moving water. Flanking the river on either side are lush banks of greenery. To the right, thick trees and bushes burst with life, rendered in a mosaic of greens—from lemon-lime to emerald, with touches of ochre and sap. Their foliage is dense and alive, swaying with energy as if responding to a breeze. On the left, darker vegetation suggests a denser thicket or perhaps a forest edge, with deep purples and shadowy greens creating a sense of mystery and balance. In the distance, a line of trees meets the horizon, their silhouettes tapering into a range of bluish hills. This distant line adds depth and perspective, helping to frame the more intimate elements in the foreground. The soft atmospheric treatment of these background elements contrasts with the more textured and dynamic strokes used closer to the viewer, lending the scene a spatial rhythm that guides the eye across the canvas.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
