Description
SERB 1220
The Oil painting on Canvas titled “Along the forest path" immerses the viewer into the quiet majesty of a woodland landscape, where towering trees rise skyward and a winding path invites exploration. This work captures not only the visual essence of a forest but also its spiritual resonance, evoking a sense of serenity, timelessness, and the intimate connection between humanity and nature. The artist, through bold brushstrokes and the lush vibrancy of oils, conveys a scene that feels both grounded in reality and elevated by a poetic sensibility. Dominating the composition are the tall, slender trunks of pine trees, their reddish-brown bark contrasting vividly against the dense canopy of green leaves and needles. The vertical rhythm of these trees draws the viewer's gaze upward, creating a feeling of grandeur and reverence, as if the forest itself were a cathedral of nature. The foliage, rendered in deep greens, yellows, and touches of turquoise, bursts with texture and vitality, each brushstroke layered to suggest the density and complexity of leaves catching light from multiple directions. The sky above is visible in fragments, glimpsed through the interlacing branches. Its soft lavender and pale blue tones create a delicate backdrop, harmonizing with the earthy greens of the forest. The contrast between the solidity of the trees and the ephemeral softness of the sky speaks to the coexistence of permanence and transience within nature. The impasto technique used by the artist imbues the sky with movement, as though the air itself shimmers with the freshness of the woodland atmosphere. At the heart of the composition lies the forest path, curving gently into the distance. Painted in earthy ochres, muted browns, and soft creams, the path is both a literal and metaphorical guide, inviting the viewer to step into the scene and wander. Its irregular form suggests a natural, unpaved trail shaped by time and footsteps, winding through dappled light and shadow. The way the path disappears into the foliage conveys a sense of mystery and discovery, as if each step forward brings new revelations hidden within the trees.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
