Description
“Oteere," in Ekiti Yoruba means a certain kind of dance gesture, Orioye explore how we keep going and find joy even when life throws its toughest challenges at us. On this bright blue background, you see figures in motion, caught within a swirling, almost explosive burst of red and gold. It's like a storm or chaos is happening around them, but they are still dancing, still moving. The central figure, especially, is actively engaged, even flying with a basketball, showing how we can find our rhythm and passion, or play our part, despite the turmoil. This painting is about resilience – how we find our way to keep dancing through the storms of life, finding strength, beauty, and even a sense of play in moments of difficulty.
