Description
Contemporary Abstract mixed media on canvas signed top left F Bantigny. Presented in custom made white painted wooden tray frame. This is one of two abstract works by the same artist the other also available in our store on 1st Dibs. Muted tones of deep brown acrylic have been used as a backdrop to the visually strong impact of the paper taping. At times the tape has been torn and or incised and then washed over with thin paint giving an effect of dry wood or branches. The work can be hung in portrait or landscape format.
This artwork presents a minimalist abstraction, characterized by horizontal, elongated shapes that resemble wooden planks or beams. Set against a dark, muted background, the light tan and beige tones of the lines create a stark contrast, emphasizing the composition's simplicity and balance. The texture of the lines evokes a sense of rustic, organic materiality, suggesting natural elements like driftwood or weathered timbers. The strategic placement of the forms guides the viewer's eye across the canvas, imparting a rhythmic quality akin to musical notes on a staff.
