Description

Warm layers of color turn time into something almost tangible. This acrylic artwork from the When the Clay Turns Cold series explores the idea that the past does not simply disappear when the present arrives. Terracotta, burnt orange, peach, ochre, brown, and cream overlap in translucent washes and fragmented gestures, allowing earlier marks to remain visible beneath newer ones.

That layering gives the work its emotional depth. It can be experienced as a visual record of memory: moments change, become less distinct, yet continue to shape everything that follows. Rather than representing eternity as endless duration, the artwork suggests something quieter—a state in which the usual boundaries between before, now, and after begin to dissolve.

Its warm palette makes it easy to live with, while the conceptual depth keeps it from becoming merely decorative. Ready to hang, it is an excellent choice for a contemporary living room, bedroom, study, or office and a thoughtful gift for someone interested in philosophy, memory, time, and meaningful abstract art.

Presentation

PUGMATIK is a contemporary abstract artist and award-winning designer whose practice explores memory, transformation, and the fragile states between appearance and disappearance.

Alesia graduated from the A.M. Shirokov Institute of Modern Knowledge with a degree in Virtual Environment Design and has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Designers since 2013. Alongside her artistic practice, she has built an internationally recognized career in branding and packaging design, receiving awards from organizations including GDUSA (USA), Pentawards (Belgium), World Brand Design Society (UK), and A' Design Award (Italy).

This background in visual systems and layered communication strongly informs her painting practice. Working primarily with acrylic abstraction, PUGMATIK creates atmospheric compositions that exist between presence and erosion, structure and dissolution. Her artworks emerge through gradual layering processes in which traces, textures, and translucent forms partially conceal one another, embedding a sense of time into the surface.

Rather than depicting literal landscapes, her works evoke emotional and psychological atmospheres. Soft diffused structures interact with more defined gestures, creating tension between stability and disappearance. Memory, perception, and transformation become central themes, while the image itself remains intentionally unresolved and open to interpretation.

Her visual language reflects both designerly precision and intuitive experimentation, balancing restraint with emotional depth. The artworks function as meditative spaces where forms seem to appear and fade simultaneously, like fragments of memory that cannot be fully recovered.

PUGMATIK will present new work at REDISCOVERED by The Holy Art Gallery in Barcelona in 2026.

Through abstraction and layered surfaces, PUGMATIK creates paintings that explore transformation not as rupture, but as a continuous and quiet process of becoming.
