Description
This work features a figure from behind, contemplating bands of color that evoke Rothko's vastness and introspection. The vibrant yellow in the upper section immediately draws the eye, symbolizing energy and light. In the middle, a calming white band creates a space for reflection and inner peace. Behind the central figure, a deep pink band reinforces the contrast and adds a dimension of passion and mystery. The figure, dressed in a sober yet elegant manner, seems absorbed in contemplation, inviting the viewer to share this introspective moment. The rich texture and vivid colors capture a balance between dynamism and serenity. This composition, at once simple and profound, transcends time and space, offering a visual meditation on the relationship between the individual and the universe of color.
Presentation
Artist Statement from Gerard Boersma: I create colorful and highly detailed works of art to express my love for the modern human as well as my concerns about contemporary city life. My hyperreal paintings are based on photographs I took during long walks through my hometown and major cities. They show people on the streets, in stores, public transport and museums or zoom in on popular products. To me these glimpses of everyday live are important as they say a whole lot about todays society. They show the way people see themselves, interact or are influenced by modern developments in various ways. I observe it, enlarge it and paint it. That way I freeze time and our fast and busy lives are forever captured in a moment. Finally ready to be observed quietly.
Biography I'm a professional and international recognized artist for over 20 years well known for my own style of realist painting. My art is in museums, galleries and private collections worldwide (North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa). Paintings were shown alongside the biggest names in art history at leading art fairs in Europe and United States. I've studied painting and fine art at the School of Arts Minerva in the Netherlands, specializing in meticulous form of realistic painting. I currently live and work in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.
