Description
This captivating artwork is distinguished by its striking use of contrast and color. Against a pristine white background, Banksy's famous work—the black silhouette of a young girl—rises gracefully, carried by a bouquet of vibrant red balloons. These balloons contrast elegantly with the rest of the composition's simplicity. At the bottom of the image, a male figure wearing a deep blue coat observes the artwork, creating an intriguing narrative tension. The choice of primary colors—red, blue, and black—reinforces the visual and symbolic impact. This painting, with its minimalism, challenges the viewer and invites reflection on themes of innocence, dreams, and escapism. The precise use of shadows and lines lends the work a captivating depth and dynamism. A creation that evokes both nostalgia and wonder.
Presentation
Artist Statement from Gerard Boersma: I create colorful and highly detailed works of art to express my love for the modern human as well as my concerns about contemporary city life. My hyperreal paintings are based on photographs I took during long walks through my hometown and major cities. They show people on the streets, in stores, public transport and museums or zoom in on popular products. To me these glimpses of everyday live are important as they say a whole lot about todays society. They show the way people see themselves, interact or are influenced by modern developments in various ways. I observe it, enlarge it and paint it. That way I freeze time and our fast and busy lives are forever captured in a moment. Finally ready to be observed quietly.
Biography I'm a professional and international recognized artist for over 20 years well known for my own style of realist painting. My art is in museums, galleries and private collections worldwide (North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa). Paintings were shown alongside the biggest names in art history at leading art fairs in Europe and United States. I've studied painting and fine art at the School of Arts Minerva in the Netherlands, specializing in meticulous form of realistic painting. I currently live and work in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.
