Description
This captivating work explores the intersection of urban architecture and steel structure with remarkable precision. Dominating the composition, the bridge's brownish beams intersect, creating a geometric framework that guides our gaze. With great technical mastery, the artist carefully rendered each rivet and joint, emphasizing the strength and stability of the structure. Across this grid, a patchwork of colorful urban facades stretches into the background. The red brick buildings and gray structures form a striking contrast with the rigid forms of the foreground. The subtle interplay of light and shadow adds depth, enriching the visual texture. This work doesn't simply capture an architectural view; it inspires reflection on the harmonious coexistence of industrial elements and urban space, while captivating with its meticulousness and visual brilliance.
Presentation
Marie-France Garrigues was born in Montauban, the city of Ingres and Bourdelle. During her teenage years, she studied drawing in the workshop of sculptor Flavio de Faveri. These years allowed her to quickly express herself through this art. At the same time, scientific studies led her to live in French Polynesia, where she worked as an investment operations manager in the building sector for the Territory of French Polynesia, and later as a project manager for the President.
Upon returning to mainland France in the 2000s, she diversified her artistic techniques, dedicating herself primarily to oil painting after studying this medium at the Beaux-Arts in Paris with Gilles Marey.
In 2010, painting became her sole activity, and she participated in various solo and group exhibitions in France and internationally, sharing her art worldwide.
In 2018, she was named a Member of the Société des Artistes Français; in 2019, a Member of the Taylor Foundation; in 2022, a Member of the Salon Violet; and in 2024, a Member of the Salon d'Automne.
The city inspires her, and she enjoys exploring architecture and its diverse perceptions: capturing freedom, modernity, the passage of time, light, solitude, and silence.
