Xenestela 4, 8 and 6, 2019

Fredy Saul Serrano

This striking artwork is a vibrant collage, skillfully assembling an array of diverse elements into a harmonious composition. Dominated by rich shades of purple and blue, the piece is a visual symphony that bridges the abstract and the surreal. Metallic textures intermingle with softer, organic forms, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The central figure, vaguely anthropomorphic, is defined by symmetrical arrangements resembling eyes and intricate patterns that suggest a high level of detail and craftsmanship. Surrounding elements, including hints of nature and technology, contribute to a sense of depth and intrigue. The juxtaposition of these varied elements invites viewers to explore the boundaries between reality and imagination, making it an engaging, thought-provoking piece. This artwork's bold aesthetic and intricate layering captivate and invite viewers into an immersive visual experience. Exuberantly colorful, symmetric colleges with ovoid shapes, called emissaries, originate from another cosmic dimension. We are troubled by the unsettling apprehension that they may become the presence of space beings who, in command, will govern the new laws of nature of the future. Serrano's artistic work centers on an interest in exploring his territory and its representation. In recent years, he has focused on the natural sciences as an object of study for his research and creation, seeking to establish connections between remembered events and other fictions in his imagination. This line of work emerges from the investigations he has conducted in a territory called Laguna, whose meaning expands into synonyms and/or other definitions of the word—for example, when speaking of a "mental gap"—which are translated into the visual metaphors of this place, constructed from childhood memories.
