The Oil painting Cardboard titled "Village in the mountains" beautifully captures the serene essence of rural life nestled against the grandeur of a mountainous backdrop. The composition draws the viewer into a tranquil setting where simplicity and nature coexist in harmony, revealing a lifestyle intimately connected with the land. Dominating the background, the majestic mountain range stretches across the horizon, painted in deep blues and cool turquoise tones that contrast with the lush greens of the valley. The peaks are softened by atmospheric brushstrokes, suggesting mist or clouds lingering at their heights, creating a sense of both immensity and peaceful stillness. In the middle ground, a cluster of houses is depicted, their rustic charm highlighted by vibrant roof colors—red, green, and violet—standing out vividly against the darker greens of surrounding fir trees. The walls of the houses, painted in warm yellows and pale whites, emit a sense of coziness and resilience, embodying the enduring simplicity of mountain dwellings. The structures appear modest but solid, built to withstand the changing seasons of a mountain climate. To the left, a haystack rises, symbolizing the agricultural rhythms of village life and hinting at the labor and traditions that sustain the community. The foreground opens into a verdant meadow, filled with lively strokes of green, dotted by splashes of pinks and purples from wildflowers. The expressive brushwork captures the texture of grass swaying in the breeze, evoking freshness and vitality. A simple wooden fence runs diagonally across the composition, partially enclosing the space, but rather than restricting, it adds to the charm of the pastoral setting, guiding the viewer's gaze deeper into the painting. Life animates the scene through the presence of a woman and a flock of geese. Positioned in the lower right section, the woman, dressed in earthy tones of brown and red, is seen guiding the geese across the meadow. Their white and gray forms, painted with swift, fluid strokes, suggest motion and noise, their wings and bodies conveying energy and liveliness. This interaction between human and animals reinforces the intimate connection between the villagers and their natural environment. It is not just a scene of work, but one of coexistence, where animals freely inhabit the space alongside people, symbolizing the continuity of life in the village.
