The Oil painting Cardboard titled "Village among the mountains" depicts the tranquil charm of rural life set against the grandeur of a mountainous backdrop. The viewer is immediately drawn into a bright, harmonious composition where the red-roofed cottages nestle comfortably at the edge of the lush green meadows, their simple forms radiating warmth and familiarity. The cottages, painted in soft whites and creams with roofs in deep reds and earthy browns, glow in the sunlight, standing out vividly against the darker tones of the surrounding trees and the majestic mountains that rise in the distance. Their modest architecture speaks of tradition, continuity, and a life deeply rooted in the rhythms of the land. The foreground opens with a winding dirt path that curves naturally through the green meadow, leading the eye into the heart of the village. The path, rendered in tones of beige and soft pink, is lively with texture, suggesting years of use as villagers walk daily between homes and fields. Alongside it, scattered chickens peck at the grass, their white and reddish feathers adding movement and a sense of rustic authenticity. These small details highlight the intimacy of country life, where humans and animals coexist in an environment shaped by both necessity and simplicity. Figures appear in the scene, giving it warmth and vitality. A woman, dressed in a bright red shawl, stands in the right foreground, surrounded by chickens, embodying the role of caretaker and the timeless routine of feeding livestock. Another figure, similarly dressed in traditional tones, is seen further back along the path, carrying something in her hands. Their presence, though depicted with swift and impressionistic strokes, anchors the composition with humanity and emphasizes the continuity of daily chores passed from generation to generation. They do not dominate the landscape but instead blend seamlessly into it, as if their lives are a natural extension of the land itself. The middle ground is defined by the cluster of cottages with red roofs, each one slightly varied in form but painted with bold, confident brushstrokes that capture their essence without rigid detail. Behind them, tall, dark green trees stand proudly, their vertical forms contrasting with the horizontal lines of the cottages. They serve as a protective barrier, sheltering the village while visually linking the settlement to the imposing mountains beyond.
