The Oil painting on Canvas titled "Under the Arch of Peace" captures a serene and deeply nostalgic summer scene set in a quiet Ukrainian courtyard, bathed in gentle sunlight and wrapped in the tranquility of domestic life. The focal point of the composition is a lush floral arch formed by climbing vines and blooming bushes that seem to stretch and embrace the two sides of the yard. The artist masterfully uses vivid reds, oranges, pinks, and whites to depict the blossoms, which overflow from flower beds and terracotta pots, spreading joy and life across the space. These bold, expressive brushstrokes and rich colors create an atmosphere of warmth and abundance, suggesting both the care of the gardener and the richness of nature in full bloom. In the background, partially shaded by the foliage, a solitary figure of an elderly woman in a white dress stands at the gate, quietly observing the garden or perhaps returning home. Her presence adds a narrative depth to the painting — she becomes a symbol of memory, of continuity, of peace within the familiar surroundings of home. The relaxed pose, soft light on her dress, and her calm expression all suggest a moment of pause, of reflection, evoking a feeling of timelessness and inner harmony. She may represent a mother, grandmother, or simply a spirit of the home — a presence that anchors the liveliness of the garden in something enduring and deeply personal. The architecture of the scene plays a subtle but important role in grounding the composition. The whitewashed walls, blue wooden bench, and shadows cast on the path evoke a rural authenticity. The right side of the canvas includes the façade of a small house, its windows catching the blue of the sky, while the left side glows with reflected sunlight. These structural elements gently guide the viewer's eye inward, through the arch of greenery, toward the human figure — emphasizing the central message of peace and domestic unity. "Under the Arch of Peace" offers more than visual beauty; it invites the viewer into a sensory memory — the smell of flowers, the warmth of the sun on the skin, the quiet rustling of leaves. It speaks to the gentle power of everyday life, the sacredness of familiar spaces, and the restorative presence of nature. This is not just a painting of a courtyard — it is an ode to peace, rooted in place and memory, created with tenderness and respect for the quiet poetry of home.
