The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Whispering birches" conveys the quiet poetry of nature where slender trees rise with grace, creating a vision filled with both stillness and movement. The scene is dominated by a stand of birches, their tall trunks painted in delicate whites, silvers, and soft browns. Each trunk appears as if etched with light, standing out against the wide expanse of blue sky. Their bark is textured with strokes of gray and subtle blues, suggesting the gentle play of shadows, while their upper branches are crowned with an ethereal haze of reddish and purple tones, evoking either early spring or the last breaths of autumn. The trees do not merely stand—they seem to murmur among themselves, whispering secrets carried by the wind. The palette captures the fleeting essence of a transitional moment in the landscape. The sky is painted in a luminous spectrum of blues, ranging from light azure at the horizon to deeper shades near the top of the composition. This vastness of blue wraps around the birches, enhancing their pale trunks and adding to the impression that they are guardians of a boundless natural expanse. The painter uses swift, impressionistic strokes to give the sense of shifting air, of light constantly moving across the scene, of an atmosphere alive with quiet vibration. At the base of the birches, the ground is warm with earthy tones of golden ochre, olive greens, and hints of violet shadows. These colors suggest that sunlight filters through the delicate canopy, dappling the earth with patches of warmth and coolness. In the background, darker shapes of trees and soft hills are depicted in muted shades, creating depth while never distracting from the birches in the foreground. The horizon is tinged with hints of red and purple, suggesting either the glow of dawn or the retreat of the day, giving the scene a sense of timeless passage. The leaves, though sparse, are rendered with quick dabs of crimson, orange, and lavender. They flutter visually, catching the eye as if stirred by an unseen breeze. These bursts of color enliven the composition, contrasting with the calm solidity of the trunks and adding a rhythm that feels musical. The brushwork here is expressive and free, giving the impression of rustling, as if each stroke itself whispers, carrying the sound of leaves in motion.
