The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Magic of winter" captures the enchanting charm of a frosty season with a radiant interplay of colors, light, and texture. The composition centers on warm, rustic houses with orange and red facades, standing proudly against a backdrop of soft wintry hues. Their slanted roofs, touched with streaks of crimson, violet, and cobalt blue, suggest the layering of snow and shadows that winter afternoons often bring. Rising above one of the homes, a chimney glows in earthy tones, offering a sense of warmth within the cold, as though fires are burning quietly inside, protecting life from the icy air outside. The trees surrounding the houses are adorned with delicate branches coated in frost or snow, painted with swirling strokes of lavender, soft pink, and pale lilac. These branches arch across the canvas like lacework, contributing to the magical, dreamlike quality of the painting. Their presence softens the geometry of the buildings, merging human habitation with the wonders of nature. The viewer is invited to imagine the crisp, crystalline silence that winter mornings bring, when even the smallest twig seems to glitter under pale sunlight. The sky above, rendered in a mosaic of turquoise, teal, and cool green brushstrokes, contrasts beautifully with the warmth of the architecture below. Rather than being a flat expanse, it shimmers with motion and depth, as though it were alive with shifting light. This tonal contrast between warm and cool creates a balance that gives the scene both energy and tranquility. The expressive brushwork makes the sky pulse gently, suggesting air alive with clarity after a fresh snowfall. The snow itself becomes a canvas within the canvas. Painted with a spectrum of creams, whites, pale violets, yellows, and even hints of orange, it seems to capture every nuance of reflected light. In certain places, the snow is shown in shadowy blues and purples, while in others it glows with the warmth of the sun. The layering of thick paint creates tactile ridges and textures, giving the impression of snow that has both softness and substance, lightness and weight.
Presentation
Born on March 20, 1953, in the city of Pidgorodn, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk State Art College (1972), Kharkov Art and Industrial Institute (1981). Teachers in the specialty: V. Zagubibatko, E. Zherdzitsky, A. Kapshuk, M. Shaposhnikov, A. of Constantinople. He worked in the field of painting, graphics. In a realistic style, he created mainly landscapes and still lifes of the Dnieper. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (2005). He worked in Dnepropetrovsk: at an art production plant (since 1981); teacher of art school (1989), senior teacher of special disciplines of art department of the theater and art college (1997). He participated in exhibitions since 1978. Personal exhibitions - in Dnepropetrovsk (2003, 2010), Kiev (2009). The main works: “The Last Chrysanthemums" (1990), “On the Berdyansk Spit" (2002), “On the Cute Ukraine" (2004), “Native Color" (2004), “Sunny" (2005). The works are stored in the Dnepropetrovsk Art Museum and the Berdyansk Art Museum (Zaporizhzhya Region). He lived and worked in the city of Dnepropetrovsk.
