Description
This painting shows a solitary gas station illuminated by dazzling lights in the dead of night. The artist captures the enigmatic and almost cinematic ambiance of a nocturnal stopover. The blurred contours of the structures suggest movement or a dream, creating an atmosphere of mystery. The contrasting brilliance of the red and white neon signs illuminates the scene, accentuating the isolation within the surrounding darkness. This juxtaposition of light and shadows evokes a feeling of continuity within a silent, fading world. The void of the night sky and the absence of human figures invite the viewer to explore the symbolism of solitude and modernity in an urban environment.
Presentation
A young Artist, born in 1979, Laetitia Giraud did her studies at the University of Nîmes, where she obtained a double master's degree in Visual arts and Applied arts. Her carrer as a peinter began with a photo shoot: contemplative scenes of journeys, landscapes, fragments of memories. She then proceeds to capture the essence and emphasize it pictorially by limiting the details. "I use photography as a machine to see my future work" she explains. In her portraits, she completely breaks free from the photographic model " By not respecting proportions, by expanding or accentuating the color range " creating nocturnes which are like hymns to light and color. " I transform as well moments lived by pictural experience to interpret sensations and give a new dimension. I show what a photography can't show. The topic being only about the painting itself".
