Description
RE 31 is an abstract oil painting created in 2025 and belongs to the ongoing body of work . The painting emerged from a process-driven approach in which the act of painting itself determines the final form. Rather than following a predefined composition, the work developed gradually through layered application, adjustment, and partial revision of color.
The composition is built upon a warm rose-toned ground that remains visible and active throughout the surface. Over this base, fields of green, blue, and muted earthy tones unfold in a loose but balanced arrangement. The colors do not compete for dominance; instead, they coexist in a restrained dialogue. Transitions between tones are soft, often blurred or interrupted, allowing the painting to breathe and retain a sense of openness.
The surface of RE 31 bears clear traces of the working process. Brush marks, shifts in density, and subtle textural variations reveal moments of decision, hesitation, and continuation. Layers are neither fully concealed nor aggressively exposed, creating a quiet tension between presence and withdrawal. This material honesty gives the painting depth and a tactile quality that rewards prolonged viewing.
With its format of 30 × 40 cm, RE 31 occupies an intimate scale that encourages close observation. The work does not impose a focal point or narrative structure; instead, it invites the viewer to engage with the painting as a field of perception. Meaning arises not from representation, but from the relationship between color, surface, and time.
RE 31 reflects an approach to abstraction that values process over resolution. It is a contemplative work, shaped by experimentation, reduction, and attention to subtle variation. The painting offers a calm yet complex visual experience, making it suitable for collectors who appreciate material depth, understated compositions, and contemporary abstract painting rooted in practice rather than spectacle.
