Description

This small, intimate painting on canvas reflects the familiar beauty of a humble and kind gesture. It was like a child saw an incredible flower in the garden and brought it as a gift to his mother. The painting depicts a single delicate protea flower resting in a glass cup, made in a soft, naive style that radiates sincerity and warmth. The generous, paste-like application of acrylic paint creates delightful tactile sensations, making each brush stroke intimate and vivid.

The color palette is a celebration of gentle tranquility: the petals of the flower are painted in creamy white and delicate lavender tones with subtle olive green accents. The flower stands out against a light textured background of warm tones of ivory and pale gray, decorated with barely noticeable vertical stripes, like wallpaper in your favorite room. This creates a peaceful atmosphere of a sun-drenched kitchen or linen tablecloth.

The painting gives a mood of quiet, unassuming joy - like a pause between a thousand things and tasks to appreciate the simple beauty next to us. This shows awareness, that every day we find a miracle: a child's smile, a spontaneous sweet gift, the attention of loved ones.

This "baby" is more than just a decorative ornament, the painting becomes a gentle daily reminder that invites you to reflect on the values in your life. It is a clear confirmation that happiness often lies not in greatness, but in small, sincere expressions of attention and care. It will fit into a cozy kitchen corner, a quiet bedroom, a welcoming hallway.

You can purchase a delicate portrait and a diptych by selecting a painting in a similar format, "Protea's Heart."

Yulia Nova, Look What I Found in the Garden

Yulia Nova

Presentation

Yulia Nova (b. 1984, Odessa, Ukraine) is an emerging contemporary artist whose practice bridges psychology, minimalism, and lyrical botanical imagery. Now based in Minsk, Belarus, she works primarily with acrylic and oil pastels, creating tranquil, introspective compositions that invite the viewer into a state of inner calm and emotional clarity.

Originally trained as a psychologist, Nova worked with vulnerable children and families before turning to painting as a form of self-reflection and therapeutic dialogue. This background deeply informs her artistic voice: each artwork functions as a safe emotional space — a “sanctuary painting” — where nature, soft palettes, and gentle forms become tools for grounding and introspection.

Her visual language blends minimalism with impressionistic sensitivity, often centering on botanical motifs and feminine figures. Through laconic composition and delicate color harmonies, Nova explores the human desire to slow down, reconnect with inner truth, and restore a sense of balance amid the noise of modern life. Her works serve as quiet emotional anchors, offering the viewer a moment of silence and presence.

Nova has participated in local exhibitions in Minsk and is preparing new series for upcoming shows, including “Garden” at the National Center for Contemporary Arts (Minsk) and “FARBA Lab” at Farba Gallery. She actively presents her art through international and Russian online galleries.

Today, Yulia Nova continues to develop her multidisciplinary practice in Minsk, focusing on art as a pathway to emotional renewal, gentle reflection, and reconnection with the natural world.
