The Oil painting Cardboard titled "Winter stream" captures the serene yet powerful atmosphere of a cold season landscape where nature lies under the grip of snow, but water still flows as a symbol of resilience and continuity. The composition immediately draws the eye to the dark, winding stream that cuts across the snowy expanse, creating a dramatic contrast between the deep, shadowy greens and blacks of the water and the pale, textured whites, creams, and soft violets of the surrounding snow. This interplay of color not only emphasizes the central subject but also injects a sense of movement into an otherwise still environment, making the stream the living vein of the winter scene. The artist's technique of thick impasto brushwork imbues the canvas with a palpable texture, allowing the viewer to almost feel the crisp surface of the snow and the icy chill in the air. Each stroke is layered with precision yet spontaneity, creating surfaces that shimmer with light and shadow. The snow is not rendered in flat white; instead, it is alive with hues of lilac, pale blue, and hints of yellow, reflecting the subtle interplay of winter light upon its surface. These nuanced tones prevent the landscape from feeling static, instead giving it vibrancy and depth. The surrounding trees, painted in bold strokes of burgundy, russet, and deep violet, stand as stark vertical forms against the backdrop of rolling hills and a heavy sky. Their branches, devoid of leaves, seem to reach upward in silent endurance, their warm colors contrasting with the icy coolness of the snow. Some of the trees catch touches of ochre and amber, as though holding onto the last remnants of autumn, adding a delicate emotional layer to the painting—an echo of seasons past lingering within the stillness of winter. In the background, the hills rise softly, painted in muted violets and blues, fading into the distance with an atmospheric haze. The sky above them, layered with heavy strokes of grayish purple and slate blue, conveys the weight of winter clouds, hinting at impending snowfall or the calm after a storm. This somber palette in the sky enhances the grounded, enduring quality of the landscape, and frames the more vivid tones of the stream and trees with a sense of vastness and inevitability.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
