The Oil painting Cardboard titled "The first snow fell" captures the breathtaking transition between autumn and winter, where the lingering warmth of golden foliage meets the crisp, fresh whiteness of early snow. The artist uses bold, textured brushstrokes to render a scene that feels alive with change, emphasizing the fleeting nature of this delicate moment when the first snowfall gently blankets the earth while the colors of autumn still blaze with intensity. At the center of the composition, a small group of trees with fiery orange and crimson leaves bursts forth against the darker backdrop of the forest. Their foliage, illuminated with warm tones, seems to glow from within, becoming the focal point of the work. The artist's use of thick, impasto strokes enhances the vibrancy of these colors, making them appear almost three-dimensional. These trees embody the last breath of autumn's fire before the quiet hush of winter takes over, standing as symbols of resilience and transition. Surrounding these central trees, the deep greens, browns, and near-blacks of the dense forest create a striking contrast. The darker woods appear both mysterious and protective, a natural frame for the radiant autumn leaves. The sky above shifts in shades of cool blue with touches of pale yellow and faint pink, suggesting the clear air of a brisk morning after the first snowfall. This sky reflects not only the brightness of the season but also the subtle melancholy that comes with the knowledge of change. The ground itself tells the story of the transformation taking place. The fresh snow, painted in layers of whites, pale blues, and hints of lavender, winds through the landscape, covering the path that cuts through the trees. The snow is not yet thick, allowing patches of earthy greens and golden browns to emerge, blending seamlessly with the cooler tones. The path, with its meandering shape, invites the viewer to imagine walking into the forest, experiencing the crunch of snow underfoot and the quietness that always accompanies the first snowfall.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
