Description
This artwork presents a mesmerizing, abstract landscape where the fluidity of nature is captured in dynamic motion. Dominating the scene is a sweeping, serpentine river that gracefully curves across the canvas, its swirling lines creating a sense of movement and energy. Above, the expansive sky is painted with expressive, swirling cloud formations that blend seamlessly with the horizon, evoking a sense of infinite space. The color palette is a dramatic interplay of deep blues and soft whites, contrasted by earthy undertones that ground the composition. This harmonious fusion of elements suggests both tranquility and power, inviting viewers to explore the boundary between reality and abstraction. The intentionally blurred lines and vivid brushstrokes amplify the dreamlike quality, making this artwork a compelling exploration of natural beauty and artistic expression.
Presentation
'I paint landscapes which express my somatic, emotional experience of being within the natural world and responding to its power, fragility, and temporality. Essentially, my work is about being in relationship with nature. My painting process involves invention and memory as well as finding inspiration by sketching and taking photographs outdoors before I begin painting in the studio. I work in oils because I love the brilliance and transparency of colour in oil paint. I want my work to convey a passionate sense of connection with the natural world, as a sanctuary for the human spirit.'
