Description
This abstract work unfolds a textured surface dominated by shades of white, evoking a fragile and mysterious purity. In the upper left, an accumulation of white matter appears to float, like a cloud or a moving sail, adding an airy and ethereal dimension to the composition. In contrast, the lower part of the work features energetic black lines, resembling tentacles or roots, anchoring the viewer's gaze into the depths of the canvas. The juxtaposition of these elements creates a captivating visual tension, suggesting a balance between lightness and density. The absence of vibrant color emphasizes the textures and forms, prompting the viewer to question what emerges from the pristine white background. This piece stands out for its ability to transform apparent emptiness into a work rich in meaning and contemplation.
Presentation
The dreamlike drawings of Marion Brosse play around with shapes, colors and a combination of recovered images, which often leads to fun stories. The artist is interested by the ambivalence of feelings, and she tries to transpose this in her creations which are inspired by surrealism. She works with various types of materials like wood, plaster or cardboard.
She worked as a graphic designer at Carré Noir, in offices like Trend Union and Li Edelkoor. she has been an illustrator for almost 10 years for the press (Le Monde, Télérama, Philosophie Magazine) and advertising, but also for magazines and luxurious brands (Le monde d’Hermès, Les Galeries Lafayette).
While working as a graphic designer, Marion Brosse opened her own studio in 2009, where she organizes solo and group exhibitions.
