Christian Büffel

This large-format abstract painting unfolds like an atmospheric landscape between structure and dissolution. Misty grays form a tranquil, almost weightless field from which intense traces of red, orange, and blue emerge. Black linear markings crisscross the surface like fragile coordinates—traces of an inner system that only reveals itself upon prolonged viewing.

At its center, the image condenses into an energetic moment: a bright explosion of white and fine particles seems to spread across the surface. Droplets, spray patterns, and transparent layers of color create a depth that oscillates between movement and stillness.

The work deliberately exists in the tension between control and intuition. Gestural interventions, linear signs, and flowing color gradients intertwine, revealing how emotion and technique are negotiated.

Depending on the perspective, the image appears either like an urban memory – fragile architectural lines in the fog – or like an inner space where energy flashes and disappears.

With its format of 105 × 130 cm, the work develops a strong spatial presence and unfolds its effect particularly in open, quiet interiors or in a gallery-like setting.

This painting does not invite the viewer to read a clear story – but rather to enter a state of being.
