Description
“Maybe Tomorrow" captures the intense gaze of a young woman in a hyper-realistic portrait, focusing on the eyes and lips. The artist employs bold brushstrokes to highlight the luminescence in the eyes, which are a captivating shade of green, drawing immediate attention and creating a sense of depth. The skin is rendered with a meticulous blend of cool and warm hues, showcasing a mastery of light and shadow that adds dimensionality to the face. The lips, painted a vivid red, contrast the softer tones, enhancing the overall allure and emotion conveyed through the expression. The subtle background, a muted purple, ensures the viewer's focus remains on the facial details. This piece stands out for its meticulous attention to detail and emotional depth, showcasing the artist's exceptional skill in capturing human expression and emotion.
Presentation
Born NYC. Lives and works in Nîmes, south of France. Robert is a contemporary oil painter and sculptor creating subtly surreal contemporary figurative works that explore themes of identity, social facades, and the human condition in our digital age. His practice merges classical techniques with modern disruptions, characterised by layered surfaces, impasto technique and juxtapositions of fragility and strength. Robert examines society through narratives and fragmented daydreams, often employing digital methods fused with traditional media. Notable series include the Paris Metro collection (2024), which documents urban interactions through a contemporary flâneur's lens, and Cassandra Complex (2024), a darkly humorous critique of modern socio-political issues using restrained colour palettes and digital aesthetic elements. His sculptural practice explores organic forms in clay, resin, and marble.
Robert Inestroza has exhibited at Paris's Salon d'Automne (2025 and 2024), and Brighton's SEAS Gallery (2023), with works featured in Art Fluent Gallery's exhibitions (2021-2023). His practice gained recognition through Le prix Lelivredart / Salon d'automne 2025 and finalist placements in the Prisma Art Prize (2021, 2022), as well as inclusion in the Quay Street Gallery Exhibition Catalogue (2021). His works are held in private collections across Europe and North America.
