Vladimir Batrakov (born November 9, 1956, Lviv) is a distinguished Ukrainian painter and graphic artist whose works captivate with their vibrant color, expressive brushwork, and deep sensitivity to nature. A graduate of the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1979), he studied under renowned masters I. Bodnar, V. Manastyrsky, and I. Zavadovsky, which laid a strong academic foundation for his artistic language.
Batrakov’s paintings are immediately recognizable for their dynamic, textured surfaces and rich painterly technique. Working with confident, almost sculptural brushstrokes, he builds compositions that feel alive with movement and light. His landscapes — whether intimate riverbanks, sunlit fields, or coastal scenes — are not merely depictions of place, but emotional interpretations of nature. Color plays a central role in his work: bold yet harmonious, it creates atmosphere, depth, and a strong visual rhythm.
There is a sense of freedom and immediacy in his technique, reminiscent of post-impressionist traditions, yet deeply rooted in the Ukrainian landscape school.
