Large work in Oil on Canvas, 1992

Lucebert   Famous Artists

This impressive painting by Lucebert is a powerful example of his late expressive style. Executed in oil on canvas, the composition is dominated by a monumental, almost totemic figure set against an intense yellow background, built up with bold brushstrokes and a raw, direct energy. The central figure, with exaggerated facial features, large eyes, and symbolic horn-like forms, refers to themes of birth, transformation, and existential tension.

The work is signed and dated lower left “Lucebert 92.XII", with an additional date on the reverse, confirming its place within the final phase of his oeuvre.

The strong contrasts and layered application of paint give the work both immediate impact and visual depth, while its scale ensures a powerful spatial presence.
